Presently the fax machine is on the DSL phone line. Can I add an answering machine to this same phone line and if so how is it hooked up

i tried to ring it back but as i dont have a fax machine i couldn’t do that

I have a phone, answering machine, and a fax machine. But, I only have one phone number. I currently have the answering machine connected to a wall jack, and the phone connected to the answering machine. On another wall jack, I have the fax machine. THe problem is, when someone calls, the phone rings 4 times, and then the answering machine kicks in. But, at the same time, the fax kicks in. SO, over our answering machine message, there is a dialtone that the caller hears and it’s confusing. Not to mention that our fax beeps when it’s on, so, in the middle of our answering mahine message, the caller hears a beep and a lot of people think that they are supposed to start leaving a message. and then, when the actual answering machine beep happens, they get confused and start over. THen, about 10 seconds later, our fax beeps again, and most people start over again. IT’s really confusing for the caller. Ideally, we would have the phone kick in first, then the anwering machine, and then, much later, the fax machine. Or, just something so that no two things happen at the same time, so the beeps don’t get confusing. We have 2 wall jacks available, what is the proper confuguration for these 3 machines?

I have a LexMark 5600/6600 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier/Fax. The fax machine is setup on the same phone line as my answering machine (phone built in.) The answering machine picks up after 6 rings, should I set the fax to pick up after 8 rings? From what I understand this would mean that the fax machine would "listen in" on the call for fax sounds after 8 rings and if it heard the sounds it will disconnect the call from the phone and pick it up to receive the fax. If that is the case wouldn’t I want the fax to listen in on the first ring then ignore it and forward it to the phone if it isn’t a fax? Or, will the fax machine then "hog" the phone line and pick up all calls and not let them through to the phone. Please explain the process of how fax machines work on the same line with an answering machine and the proper ring settings for the fax.

1) Phone signals go through a coaxial cable to my modem (Time Warner Cable)
2) Phone signals leave modem via standard phone cable into fax machine.
3) Second cable leads from EXT on fax machine to a phone line splitter that splits phone line to cover multiple rooms.

Sometimes when a call is made towards my model Panasonic 6.0 KX-TG9334, i hear a screeching beep, that I believe is a fax machine sound. Except, no fax machines are connected to the base unit. When that happens, the caller can’t leave a message. The answering machine is (maybe?) overrided

fax machine has two telephone jacks in the back (line) and (ext) and was made in 1996 (Betacom).

new 5.8 cordless with answering machine set for 4 rings running from outlet to fax machine then to cordless used to go to fax after two rings automatically now it goes to whatever has the lowest rings to answer

HP1040 Fax machine. I tried the TAM mode. The answering machine works but the fax machine won’t receive any faxes.

School sent me a fax but I guess my fax machine didn’t pick it up and now I have the two faxes in my answering machine… Is there anyway to get them and print them out?
